Chapel House - Mid Devon
Chapel Conversion
The restoration and conversion of a former Methodist Chapel to create a family home set within the idyllic rural farming landscape of Mid Devon.
Built in 1865, the chapel is an undesignated heritage asset, so whilst not listed, the proposals needed to be carefully considered for their impact upon the existing structure and its historical significance.
A restrained material and colour palette characterises the approach to the restoration of existing elements and the introduction of new structure throughout.
The adjacent Sunday School is divided into bedrooms and bathrooms allowing the original chapel space to retain its open feel. A new open plan lounge / kitchen / dining layout brings new life to the space.
